Ball-screw support bearings

Bearings in this group are designed for ball-screw supports and other assemblies where positioning accuracy, axial stiffness, and minimal displacement under load are decisive. What matters is not only the bearing size but also its mounting arrangement in the support.

Support arrangement and design

Depending on the assembly design, bearings may be used singly or in matched sets. The operating characteristics of the support are determined by bearing arrangement, preload, and how axial screw displacement is constrained.

Critical support parameters

  • Direction and magnitude of the axial load.
  • Required axial stiffness.
  • Preload.
  • Bearing arrangement within the set.
  • Rotational and positioning accuracy.
  • Ball-screw speed.
  • Fits and precision of the mating surfaces.
